3-year postdoc position in Theoretical Ecology

The successful candidate will apply non-linear data analysis and mathematical modelling to analyse large data sets on pelagic and benthic bacteria and associated environmental, chemical, and metagenomic information, collected from previous ship cruises to the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean. The aim will be to map the organismal and chemical diversity throughout the ocean to a comprehensive picture of the large-scale biogeography of marine microorganisms.
The candidate will benefit from the broad experience in mathematical modelling in Prof. Dr. Bernd Blasius' group in Oldenburg and additionally from the tight interactions with experimental groups at the ICBM and the Roseobacter project.

We are looking for a candidate holding an above-average academic university degree (master or equivalent) and a PhD in theoretical ecology, applied mathematics, physics, or a closely related subject. Applicants must have a strong background in the mathematical analysis of biological data. Applicants should be fluent in written and spoken English and should have a strong interest to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Salary and conditions
The position will be starting in January 2019 for a duration of three years. Salary will be according to TVL E13 (100%). The position is suitable for part-time work.
