The Department of Computing Science in the School of Computing Science, Business Administration, Economics (School II) invites applications for an
Endowed Professorship (W3) in Applied Artificial Intelligence
commencing as soon as possible.
The endowed professorship "Applied Artificial Intelligence" is linked to the leadership of a working group of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) in Oldenburg, which is currently being set up.
We are looking for individuals with a proven track record of international high-level research in artificial intelligence techniques such as deep learning and machine learning in one or more of the following business and industrial application areas:
- Image recognition and video analysis
- Intelligent multimedia generation and layout
- Sensor data processing and analysis
- Decision support systems
- Artificial Intelligence for Industrie 4.0
- Smart energy grids
The appointee to the position is to establish and lead another working group of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) GmbH in Oldenburg. The working group's research should be thematically compatible with the research conducted at the DFKI. Applicants are expected to have management skills as well as longstanding experience in cooperating with the private sector and the acquisition of third-party funding.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in teaching the German and English Bachelor's and Master's degree courses in computer science and business information systems, and also to offer basic courses in practical as well as applied informatics. Relevant teaching experience is essential. The professor will be particularly involved in teaching specialization courses in artificial intelligence. He or she will further strengthen the department's research activities in AI and collaborate with the associated institute OFFIS. Candidates should be willing to actively participate in the university's self-administration.
The Professorship in Applied Artificial Intelligence will complement the existing expertise of the Department of Computing Science and bridge research and industrial applications in cooperation with companies in Oldenburg and neighboring areas.
