The European Medical School is a cooperation between the University of Oldenburg and the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen with participation of Oldenburg's hospitals and resident physicians. In addition to the establishment of the model course "Human Medicine", both universities cooperate also in research.

The research divisions of Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Perioperative Infection and Inflammation (Experimental Anesthesiology) at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg seek to fill the following two vacancies as fulltime positions with a starting date as early as possible

Technical Laboratory Assistant (m/f/d)
(up to E 9 TV-L, up to developmental stage 4)

The positions are suitable for part-time work.

Our team and our projects:
We are an international and multi-professional team with a lot of joy and motivation for our work. Our research question is, how we can improve the treatment for our patients who suffer from cardiovascular diseases. We develop specific measures, which allow to improve treatment of these patients using a translational approach that covers the full range of in vivo disease models through cell culture and clinical trials. We use a variety of modern biotechnological methods and procedures.

Your tasks:

  • autonomous preparation and evaluation of laboratory analyzes of biological materials
  • the application of molecular biology and protein biochemical as well as histological and immunohistochemical techniques
  • cell culture work
  • in vivo disease models including genotyping work
  • technical guidance and supervision of our students in the laboratory
  • planning the purchase processes

Together with our PostDocs you are responsible for the technical start up and maintenance of the new laboratories, e. g. for choice and purchase of new device requirements and commissioning as well as for the establishment of new methods. The participation in the general laboratory management and the administration of documents are self-evident.

Your profile:
A completed apprenticeship as state-approved Medical, Chemical or Biological Technical Assistant (or equivalent) is required. Lab assistants with equivalent skills and experiences are also eligible. Higher education degrees in biotechnology are likewise welcome. Very good English skills and several years of experience on the job are likewise required.

We expect a high degree of motivation and commitment as well as enthusiasm to integrate into our teams. The ability to work independently and reliably as well as in-depth experience in one or more of the above mentioned tasks (e.g. PCR, histology, western blotting or cell culture work) and safe handling of computers are beneficial. Knowledge about the administrative and legal frameworks in gene technology levels 1 and 2 as well as experience with disease models in animals is advantageous.
