The Department of Economics at the University of Oldenburg invites applications for a
Research associate position (m/f/d)
(salary scale E13 TV-L, at 100%, for the period of three years, with possibility of renewal).
The position will be based at the Chair of Applied Microeconomics (Prof. Cristian Huse) and is particularly interesting for someone who is striving for a career in academia and looking for a position that combines a stimulating research environment with a light teaching load.
You will contribute to the agenda of the research group and pursue your own research in Applied Microeconomics, in particular, Industrial Organization, and Environmental Economics.
The pre-condition for hiring is a completed Master's degree with excellent academic record in Economics or another quantitative subject, with a focus on applied econometrics. In case of a Master still in progress, the candidate should provide evidence (e.g., letter from thesis supervisor) that the successful completion of the degree will take place by September 2019. Additional requirements for this position include:
- A solid background in Microeconomics, Applied Econometrics, Environmental Economics, and Industrial Organization, and an interest to develop further in these areas;
- Experience with empirical projects, ideally in Empirical Industrial Organization (e.g., demand estimation, antitrust) or Environmental and Energy Economics;
- Extensive knowledge of programming and/or statistical packages (e.g., Julia, Matlab, Python, R, Stata);
- Good command of the English language.
