The Institute for Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment (ICBM) at the University of Oldenburg invites applications for a

Scientific coordinator (m/f/d)

salary according to E13 TV-L, 50%

for a period of 2 years (01.04.2021 – 31.03.2023).

Depending on the availability of funding, a long-term perspective for the scientific coordinator at ICBM is sought.

The ICBM is an interdisciplinary research institute, for fundamental and applied marine research. The internationally renowned institute aims at understanding the function of marine environmental systems through close cooperation of the various scientific disciplines (chemistry, biology, physics, mathematical modelling) of its more than 20 research groups.

Your tasks: Assist in the coordination of a larger, interdisciplinary research consortium in marine biogeochemistry at ICBM in collaboration with national and international partners. Research will focus on the marine carbon cycle and involve microbiologists, geochemists, physicists and mathematical modelers. Tasks include support in organizing and moderating scientific workshops, writing summary texts from scientific discussions at the workshops, researching and summarizing literature, assisting in reporting and the conception and design of graphics for a collaborative research proposal. Regular communication between all applicants should be coordinated with the help of modern digital platforms.

Requirements: Qualifying academic university degree (Master or Diploma (not of a University of Applied Sciences)) in geoecology, marine or environmental sciences, or related fields of earth system sciences. Required is experience in research management, moderating workshops and basic knowledge in graphic design, and the ability for and willingness to work in a multidisciplinary, international team and to communicate with external partners. A doctoral degree is advantages.
