The Department of Computing Science at the School of Computing Science, Business Administration, Economics, and Law seeks applications for a

Junior Professorship in Business Informatics with a Focus on the Environment and Sustainability

salary scale W1 with tenure track W2 (m/f/x)

commencing on 1 October 2022. The position is funded by the Tenure Track Programme of the German Federal Government and the Federal States, supporting early career researchers.

Pending fulfilment of the applicable employment laws, the fixed-term contract granting temporary civil servant status will initially be limited to a period of three years and may be extended by a further three years, subject to a positive evaluation. At the end of this period, appointment to a tenured professorship at W2 level is intended in accordance with the relevant statutory provisions. Candidates should be in the early stages of their career.

We aim to find and employ a young scientist with excellent qualifications in Business Informatics whose research is geared towards applications in corporate environmental and sustainability informatics. Sound experience in the field of corporate environmental information systems is therefore required. In addition, sound experience in at least one area of sustainability informatics is required, for example the development and application of digital innovations for the protection of the climate and the environment, in the areas of "sustainable energy supply", "sustainable mobility", "sustainability communication" or "green information systems".

The potential candidates are required to have relevant teaching experience and to participate in the German and English-language Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes in Computer Science. Initial experience in the acquisition of third-party funding is desirable. The successful candidate will further be required to participate actively in the research environment of the university, in particular through contributions to the research center “Human-Cyber-Physical Systems: Safety, Acceptance, Social and Cultural Embeddedness” and the Centre for Environment and Sustainability (COAST). There are excellent networking opportunities for basic scientific research and applied research at the University of Oldenburg. In addition, the affiliated institute OFFIS and the DLR institutes offer excellent opportunities for application-oriented research collaborations. As the University of Oldenburg and the University of Bremen are bound by a cooperation agreement, active participation in the cooperation is expected.

Prerequisites for employment are specified in section 30 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG). If candidates were employed as research associates or research assistants before or after obtaining their doctoral degree, the total period of doctoral studies and employment must not exceed six years.
