The European Medical School is a cooperation of the University of Oldenburg with its cooperating hospitals and the University of Groningen with its University Hospital UMCG. Beyond their cooperation in the development of a medical school the institutions also develop shared research activities.

The Cardiology Research Laboratory of Prof. Dr. Albrecht Elsässer, Department of Human Medicine invites applications for the position of:

PhD student (m/f/d)

(Salary according to E13 TV-L, 65%)

The position is limited to 3 years.

Tasks:

This PhD project will involve the development of a novel material for vascular healing, able to prevent chronic inflammation, and thrombosis.

Requirements:

We are looking for a team player with a strong interest in research and development in cardiovascular research. Formal admission requires an academic university degree (Master or equivalent) in biology, medical sciences, or material engineering. The applicant must have some experience with cell culture and molecular biology techniques, preferably with material science background. The position should result in a doctoral dissertation at the end of the project time.
