The "Ultrafast Nano-Optics" group ( at the Faculty V - Mathematics and Natural Sciences - of the University of Oldenburg invites applications as soon as possible for

2 Ph.D. positions (m, f, d)

Ultrafast Optical Nanoscopy

(E13 TV-L / 50%)

for a period of 3 years.

The research work shall explore and exploit novel experimental techniques for analyzing strong and ultrastrong coupling phenomena in functional nanostructures on ultrashort length and time scales. Specifically, we wish to use and advance multidimensional electronic spectroscopies and nano-optical spectroscopy techniques for studying such coupling phenomena in novel types of quantum materials. The research is embedded in different programs funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and the "Niedersächsisches Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kultur".

We offer an interdisciplinary scientific environment and provide expertise and scientific infrastructure to perform cutting-edge, exciting research in collaboration with leading national and international partners.

We are seeking candidates with a qualifying scientific university degree in physics or related areas. We expect competence in at least two areas comprising laser physics, spectroscopy, optics, solid state physics. We expect high motivation, good communication skills and the ability to work in a team. Experience in the generation and/or characterization of ultrashort optical pulses and/or in nano-optics is desirable.

The University of Oldenburg is dedicated to increasing the percentage of female employees in the field of science. Therefore, female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. In accordance with Lower Saxony regulations (§ 21 Section 3 NHG) female candidates with equal qualifications will be preferentially considered. Applicants with disabilities will be given preference in case of equal qualification.

Please send your application (including a letter of motivation, curriculum vitae, list of any publications, copies of university certificates) and any questions related to the specific content of these projects electronically as a single PDF file no later than 01.07.2022 to Prof. Dr. Christoph Lienau (Universität Oldenburg, Faculty V, Institute of Physics, 26129 Oldenburg, phone 0441-798 3485) Email:
