In the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Oldenburg the Institute of Physics is offering a position for a
Post-doctoral researcher (m, f, d)
in the research group "Quantum Materials" of Prof. Dr. C. Schneider. The position should start as soon as possible, and will be offered for 30 months under the following conditions: E13 TV-L / 100%. Full-time positions can be also turned into part-time ones.
The requirements for employment are a qualifying academic University degree (master or diploma) and a PhD degree in Physics. We are looking for suitable candidates, certified by a doctoral degree. The talented and motivated candidates will have advanced experimental experience in optical spectroscopy of two-dimensional semiconductors (transition metal dichalcogenides). The research project will focus on the study of quantum light emission from atomically thin materials, their coupling to microcavities, and the transmission of quantum information using single photons emitted from the devices. Relevant expertise with the necessary analytical and spectroscopic methods are expected: high resolution micro-photoluminsecence spectroscopy at cryogenic temperatures (< 10 K), µ-photo-reflectivity in the visible and infrared, time resolved spectroscopy, and photon correlation spectroscopy. Handling of mode-locked laser systems is required. Experience in the fabrication of atomically thin crystals, as well as van-der-Waals heterostructures via micromechanical cleaving are compulsory. Competent English language skills are required.
As part of a collaborative research project, it is planned to spend some time at another university - especially at the start of your employment – so willingness to travel is a prerequisite.
The University of Oldenburg is dedicated to increasing the percentage of female employees in the field of science. Therefore, female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. In accordance with Lower Saxony regulations (§ 21 Section 3 NHG) female candidates with equal qualifications will be preferentially considered. Applicants with disabilities will be given preference in case of equal qualification.
Applications with the usual documents (motivation letter, CV, copies of BSc, Master and PhD degree certificates, list of publications) must be received by 30.09.2022 at the latest preferred by email to Prof. Dr. C. Schneider as a single PDF with the following reference number QM6:
