The following position is available at the Institute for Biology and Environmental Sciences to be filled as early as possible for the duration of 3 years
Soil Scientist (m/f/d)
(Akademische Rätin/Akademischer Rat, BesGr. A13 NBesG, 100%)
In case the candidate is positively evaluated the position can be extended for 3 years.
The position includes teaching duties of 4 LVS in the BA-programme Environmental Sciences and the MA-programme Landscape Ecology as well as research in process-orientated soil sciences with the goal of scientific qualification (Habilitation). Acquiration of scientific funding, the scientific and methodological supervision of student projects, international and regional networking as well as participation is academic self-administration are expected.
Essential requirements are a University degree (Master or Diplom) in geoecology, geography or landscape ecology or an equivalent education with a specialisation in general soil sciences, soil chemistry or soil ecology as well as a very good PhD in the respective subjects. The candidate should bring in a vision of an individual research focus to be developed that is ideally in alignment to the Universities’ and the Institutes’ research foci. Excellent knowledge on soil genetics, soil chemistry and/or soil ecology is essential. Experiences in the use of a wide spectrum of field and laboratory methods in soil sciences as well as in academic teaching are required.
We are looking for a person with excellent communication and organisational skills as well as an interest in establishing an individual research profile in Oldenburg. Close cooperation in research and teaching with other working groups at the Institute is expected. Until the professorship in soil ecology is filled (planned for 2025), the position will be associated with the working group Hydrogeology and Landscape Hydrology
