The "Ultrafast Nano-Optics" group at the Institute of Physics, Faculty V - Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Oldenburg invites applications for a
Research assistant/ doctoral student (m/f/d)
(E13 TV-L, 65 %)
starting as soon as possible and initially limited (project-related) until 30.09.2025. The position offers the possibility to pursue a doctoral degree (PhD).
The aim of the research project is to explore new concepts for the control of ultrafast nanoscale energy transport in condensed matter. In particular, the research shall apply advanced ultrafast spectroscopy methods, predominantly multidimensional coherent spectroscopy, for the study and control of light-initiated ultrafast nonadiabatic dynamics in organic functional materials. The position is embedded in the collaborative research network "DyNano" recently funded by the "Niedersächsisches Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kultur". We offer a highly interdisciplinary scientific environment and provide expertise and scientific infrastructure to perform cutting-edge research in collaboration with national and international partners.
We are seeking highly motivated candidates with a qualifying university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in experimental physics or related areas and with a strong interest in ultrafast spectroscopy and ultrafast dynamics in condensed matter. We expect competence in at least two of the following areas: ultrafast laser physics, ultrafast spectroscopy, optics, solid state physics, ultrafast light-matter interaction. Very good command of English, both written and spoken, is mandatory. Good communication skills and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary international team are expected. Experience in the generation and/or characterization of ultrashort optical pulses and/or pump-probe spectroscopy is an advantage. Experience in programming and advanced data analysis is desirable.
The Universität Oldenburg is an equal opportunity employer seeking to increase the proportion of female employees in research. In accordance with Lower Saxony regulations (§ 21 Section 3 NHG) female candidates with equal qualifications will be preferentially considered. Disabled persons with equal qualification will be given preference.
