Fuel cells promote the use of non-fossil energy with applications ranging from stationary to automotive.
The project aims at the development of proton-exchange membranes which enable fuel cell operating temperatures above 100 °C. In the studied composite membranes proton-conducting metal-organic frameworks act as bifunctional filler. They support the retention of absorbed water in the membrane and provide an additional pathway for the proton conduction at low humidity.
