Title: Metal free photocatalysts for synthesis of organic molecules

Homogeneous photocatalysts are expensive and comprised of scarce elements like Ir or Ru while for heterogeneous photocatalysis mainly wide band gap materials like TiO2 and unstable CdS are established.

Organic semiconductors like graphitic carbon nitride are free of precious metals and active under visible light irradiation. This material class is distinguished by more negative conduction bands compared to oxide-based semiconductors and is used for photocatalytic synthesis of organic molecules.
