Master European History

Profile
The Master programme European History offers a highly specialised scientific qualification as well as the development of interdisciplinary skills, experiences abroad, and activity-orientated employability. Students’ learning builds upon the newest research results. Aim of the Master is to prepare students for a scientific career followed by the opportunity of a doctorate (Ph.D.) as well as research oriented activities outside of universities requiring qualifications beyond a specific field of study. Among others these are

  • a confident handling of theoretical and methodological basics
  • method questioning competences
  • ability to work in a team
  • awareness of good scientific practice
  • ethically well-founded power of judgement
  • competences in written and oral communication and also
  • teaching and transfer skills

Courses offered vary from research based scientific modules of European History from ancient history up to the present day, trans-disciplinary modules in obligatory elective subjects, an obligatory internship in a science-based institution with accompanying modules, modules in the professionalization section and the offer of an integrated semester abroad (a students’ exchange programme based on Socrates/Erasmus conditions has already been contracted with the University of Warwick, which enables our students to take part in such an exchange programme).
Students have the chance to focus their specialised studies on regional and epochal aspects.
A mentoring programme has been supplemented in order to create ideal studying conditions, mentoring and counselling offers. Careers and Occupational Fields
