Applications for start-up funding of junior researcher groups and applications for funding to secure one’s own position can be submitted via the programme budget of the Presidential Chair (for more information, please refer to the guidelines in the download section). In addition to the start-up funding of junior researcher groups, it is also possible to apply for funding from the programme budget of the Presidential Chair for the support of specific coordinated projects at any time, e.g. in connection with the establishment of DFG Collaborative Research Centres or Research Training Groups. Meetings with the Vice President for Research and Transfer have to be held at an early stage, however at the latest when the time comes to draft a full proposal.

The Association of North German Universities (VNU) promotes research cooperation between its member universities with the Impulse Research programme. The funds are used to prepare cooperation and to apply for joint projects. The programme is intended for postdoctoral scientists of all VNU universities (Bremen, Greifswald, Groningen, Hamburg, Kiel, Lübeck, Oldenburg and Rostock). For example, meetings, workshops and symposia for the exchange and the preparation of association-wide research cooperation are funded. Applications for support can be submitted at any time at the office of the VNU - please also inform the Department for Research and Technology Transfer if you apply to the VNU.
