Applications for start-up funding of junior researcher groups (Carl von Ossietzky Young Researchers´ Fellowship) and applications for funding to secure one’s own position can be submitted via the programme budget of the Presidential Chair (for more information, please refer to the guidelines in the download section). In addition to the start-up funding of junior researcher groups, it is also possible to apply for funding from the programme budget of the Presidential Chair for the support of specific coordinated projects at any time, e.g. in connection with the establishment of DFG Collaborative Research Centres or Research Training Groups. Meetings with the Vice President for Research and Transfer have to be held at an early stage, however at the latest when the time comes to draft a full proposal.
Management of third-party funds by academic staff with doctorates
The university of Oldenburg is strengthening the independence of its academic staff. In the context of their own DFG projects, researchers will be given the opportunity to personally manage third-party funds acquired and the scientific aspects of research project execution, select staff members, and allocate the funds acquired.
To be able to make use of these possibilities, researchers need to sign a special third party funds management agreement as well as obtain the signature of their department head. The agreement must be submitted to the funding body along with the application. The agreement can be found in the administration portal under Finanzen/Drittmittel.
Promoting the acquisition of third-party funding by academic staff
Rewarding the additional effort and performance for successfully acquiring third-party funding
Employees in the status group of postdoctoral academic staff (postdoctoral researchers, not lecturers for special tasks (LfbA)) will receive a one-off payment of EUR 2,500 for proposals with a volume of EUR 100,000 or more and a one-off payment of EUR 5,000 for proposals with a volume of EUR 250,000 or more when applying for a DFG third-party funded project. The funds are an expression of recognition of special achievements and are intended to strengthen individual research. Recipients can use these funds freely in accordance with the budget regulations. No further proof is required. Initially, this will only apply to DFG projects as these the most common projects acquired independently by individual researchers in comparison with EU or BMBF projects while ensuring a high level of equal treatment and comparability because all eligible researchers can apply with their own research projects.
Implementation:
Successful applicants should send an email to the following address: dez2.programmhaushalt@uni-oldenburg.de. The mail should be marked Remuneration for the additional effort and performance in the event of successful acquisition of third-party funding. The funding decision and the application for the establishment of a budget financing position should be attached. The application should specify the same term as the project. If the academic staff involved leave the university before the end of the project, the remaining funds will be returned to the Presidential Board's programme budget.
