Computing Science - Master's Programme

Computing science has developed into a central discipline with a significant impact on society. Its applications permeate almost all areas of life. The Department of Computing Science at the University of Oldenburg offers a modern and practically oriented degree programme.

In order to study this course at the University of Oldenburg as a student from outside of Germany, you need an adequate knowledge of German.

German Language Proficiency
 

• DSH: Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang (Level 2) or
• TestDaF: Test – Deutsch als Fremdsprache (with level 4 in all four areas)

• Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) Level B1 or
• if applicants are native speaker or they have university entrance qualification or a university degree obtained in English

Graduates possess qualified skills in the specification, implementation, optimisation, and validation of complex IT systems for information, communication, and guidance. Furthermore, they are able to implement these skills or lead their implementation. In the process of working on an extensive, practically oriented project as part of a team, you will learn team work, as well as the skills needed to prepare convincing presentations on your own work or that of others. It is precisely these enhanced skills that will enable you to achieve leading roles in industrial development teams or to work on your own independent research projects. Furthermore, there is also an opportunity to follow the successful completion of the master's programme by moving on to doctoral studies.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Computing Science or from prior studies in a closely related, engineering scientifical field
• A schedule for the acquirement of missing ECTS credits, if the bachelor degree has not been completed by the time of application.

This is an open admissions degree course, and applications are accepted for both the winter and summer semesters.

Detailed application deadlines for the winter semester 2024/2025 (summer semester 2025):

• Applications with a German university entrance qualification or degree: by 30 September 2024 (31 March 2025)
• Applications from the EU: by 30 September 2024 (31 March 2025)
• Applications from third countries (non-EU): by 15 June 2024 (15 December 2024)

For open-admission Master's degree programmes it is strongly recommended to submit their applications as early as possible before 15 July for the winter semester and before 15 January for the summer semester. If the supporting documents are submitted after these dates but before the standard application deadlines, this may have disadvantages for the start of your studies.
