German as a foreign language
Director of the Institute
The subject 'teaching and researching German as a foreign language' is, as one of the components of German Studies, represented both at the Institute for German Studies, Faculty III (Language and Cultural Sciences) and, at the same time, in a department at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Education and Communication in Migration Processes (IBKM) at the University Oldenburg.
We as teachers and researchers work on the linguistic integration of immigrants with a special emphasis on the promotion of multilingualism of people and societies. Close Cooperation with areas such as Intercultural Pedagogics, Sociology of Migration and comparative Cultural Sciences characterizes the profile of German as a Foreign Language in Oldenburg. Thanks to our various collaborations in foreign countries, German as a Foreign Language contributes to the internationalization of the University.
