About us
Smart cyber-physical infrastructures, like autonomous transportation systems or smart supply networks, shape our future. Most of these infrastructures and applications are critical to society and individuals. We invite you to help in making them trustworthy, reliable, and safe – and to obtain a PhD in this evolving area.
Answering the quest for reliable cyber-physical infrastructures, the research group “Foundations and Applications of Systems of Cyber-Physical Systems” https://uol.de/socps, led by Prof. Dr. Martin Fränzle, focuses on research and development in the areas of systems engineering for cyber-physical systems, modeling and automatic analysis of safety-critical systems, semantic foundations of contract-based design, automatic verification technologies, formal description languages, and multi-criteria analysis of complex computer-based systems.
Your tasks
The position is embedded in an international research group working on formal methods for the safety-oriented design and automated safety analysis of autonomous and cyber-physical systems, such as autonomous driving. The successful candidate will conduct research on design methods for cyber-physical systems that ensure quantitative safety goals through design and mathematical verification or by self-explanation of cyber-physical systems. The position includes 4 semester hours per week (LVS) of university teaching.
Your profile
Required qualifications:
The prerequisite for employment is a successfully completed scientific university degree (Diplom (Uni) or Master) in computer science, mathematics or control engineering.
Preferred qualifications:
- Prior knowledge in formal methods of computer science or stochastic modeling and analysis
- Interest in cyber-physical systems and their correctness problems
- Good command of written and spoken English
- Ability to work in an international team
We offer
Applicants are expected to conduct research during their employment. The position will provide opportunities to develop the research and teaching skills necessary for a sustained academic or industrial career. The opportunity for obtaining a PhD degree will be provided. The position is suitable for part-time work.
Our standards
The University of Oldenburg is dedicated to increase the percentage of female employees in the field of science. Therefore, female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. In accordance to § 21 Section 3 NHG, female candidates with equal qualifications will be preferentially considered. Applicants with disabilities will be given preference in case of equal qualification.
