Prof. Dr. Karsten Speck

Prof. Dr. Karsten Speck has been Vice President for Studies, Teaching and International Affairs at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg since 1 January 2022.

Since 2010, he has held the professorship for research methods in education and educational sciences at the university, teaching at the Institute of Education as well as the Institute of Special and Rehabilitation Education. He studied educational science at the University of Halle-Wittenberg, where he also received his doctorate in 2005. Before accepting the call to Oldenburg, he taught and conducted research at the University of Potsdam.

Prof. Dr. Karsten Speck has extensive experience, both as former Dean of Studies and Dean of Faculty I - Education and Social Sciences and as co-founder of the German-African Center for Educational Research CERM-ESA. In addition to advising ministries of education, he focuses his scientific work on higher education research and research-based teaching and learning. He also conducts research on the cooperation of different professional cultures and institutions, on the education of disadvantaged, impaired and troubled children and adolescents, and on the impact of educational and social programs.
