About us
The appointment is made as part of the BMBF/NWO third-party funded project iSeal2 (https://www.iseal-project.org/, Integrated social-ecological network analysis for the transdisciplinary development of indicators and recommendations for action to reduce anthropogenic stressors).
In iSeal, an ecosystem-based management approach is being developed to record and assess the effects of multiple stressors (e.g. climate change, invasive species) on the Wadden Sea ecosystem. At its core, relationships between stressors and changes in structure, function, key species and condition of food webs are analyzed and assessed. Based on this, applicable and measurable targets and thresholds for good ecological status are developed. The results are transferred to national, trilateral and international working and expert groups in order to create the basis for a uniform implementation of ecosystem-based indicators.
