About us
The School VI of Medicine and Health Sciences comprises the fields of human medicine, medical physics and acoustics, neurosciences, psychology and health services research. Together with the four regional hospitals, School VI forms the University Medicine Oldenburg. Furthermore, the university cooperates closely with the University Medicine of the University of Groningen.
Your tasks
- Collaboration in a dynamic, international team with a research focus on neuroimmunology and cell-cell communications.
- Planning and execution of in vitro studies to better understand the impact of neurohormones and immune checkpoint molecules on the integrity of the blood-brain barrier using innovative cell and organ culture systems. In particular, with this research project we will analyze the communication of endothelial cells and immune cells in inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the central nervous system.
- Conception and generation of complex cell culture systems and organoids, collaboration in research networks, intensive cooperation with a wide variety of working groups in basic scientific research.
- Use of established animal models and planning and implementation of RNA sequencing analyses.
- High-resolution immune cell analysis (including flow cytometry, cell metabolism analyses, investigation of signaling cascades and multiparametric quantification of soluble mediators).
Your profile
Required qualifications:
- University degree in natural sciences (Diploma / Master) with a focus on life sciences or a similar discipline.
- Strong interest in scientific questions coupled with an independent, conscientious way of working.
- Very good communication and teamwork skills as well as good written and spoken German and English.
Preferred qualifications:
- Initial professional experience in the field of neuroimmunology, cell and molecular biology
- Experience in the field of primary cell culture or the establishment of organoids
- Willingness to carry out animal experiments
