Learning Workshops of the ZSKB

Academic writing groups

In order to better accommodate the different needs and demands of the different disciplines, we offer one writing group for students in each of the following disciplines:

What is a writing group?

Do you ever feel that you’d like to talk to somebody about what you’ve just written? Where better than in a group of like-minded people?

The Learning Workshop offers a guided writing group to help you acquire academic writing skills. The group meetings are structured to make sure that everyone gets something out of them. Time allocation (initial phase, writing time, final phase) and moderation are fixed. You’ll work independently in the writing group within this predetermined framework. A student writing tutor will guide you and provide you with feedback as required.

Who can participate?

  • Social sciences and humanities students who already have experience of writing academic texts, be it a term paper, report or the like. Please note that you can only attend the writing group for a maximum of two semesters.
  • Natural sciences students studying for a Bachelor or Master’s degree and currently working on a written project, be it a lab report, internship report or thesis.

How can you sign up?

Please log out of Stud.IP before visiting the link or search for the event directly in Stud.IP.

When do the meetings take place?

The meetings take place every week during the semester, always on a Friday. If desired, the meetings can also be continued in the semester break. Information on this can be found in Stud.IP of the event.

What do we expect?

It’s important to be on time, attend regularly, and if you are unable to attend, please send a short message in good time to your writing group in the event forum in Stud.IP.
