Counselling
Counselling
During individual counselling, we work together in a confidential atmosphere to find solutions to your concerns about academic working, writing and learning.
Writing counselling
Got lots of ideas but no plan? In an individual writing counselling session, we look at your writing process together and think about what your next steps might be.
We provide counselling on methods and techniques of academic working and writing both in German and English. If you wish, we can provide you with neutral feedback on your text.
Please note: We do not offer counselling regarding the content of your writing. Writing counselling is no substitute for the subject-specific support of your supervisor/instructor.
Possible requests:
- Exchange: sharing, sorting, and developing your thoughts
- Planning your writing project: finding a topic and a research question, outlining a structure etc.
- Methods and techniques for planning, writing, and revising
- Structure and a red thread
- Writer’s block
- Feedback on your text
- And much more
Maybe you can’t pinpoint what your request is yet? Together, we will find out how we can best support you.
Group counselling sessions
Just a quick question...? You can ask all your questions on a previously announced topic at our group counselling sessions. You have the questions - we have the answers.
Check-In
Your writing is actually going quite well, but a little more commitment would be helpful? We are available to you as sparring partners in 15-minute check-ins: Together we look at your schedule and progress, set and review goals or answer small questions about the writing process.
Learning coaching
Learning successfully at last? In learning coaching, your learning process takes centre stage. Depending on your concerns, we look at your individual resources and potential solutions in 1-5 sessions.
Important: Learning coaching does not focus on specialised content, but on productive, self-directed learning management.
Possible concerns:
- Strengthening motivation and self-efficacy, gaining self-confidence and self-assurance
- Clarifying and resolving learning blocks, overcoming procrastination
- Working through experiences of success and failure, dealing with exam stress
- Recognising resources and difficulties, developing suitable learning strategies
- Time and self-management
Learning coaching does not replace psychological counselling. If you have any problems or questions relating to mental health, our colleagues at the Psychological Counselling Service will be happy to help you.
Are you unsure whether learning coaching is right for you? Arrange a non-binding initial consultation.
