Master's student Matheus Silveira Mendes has received the DAAD prize for outstanding achievements by international students for the year 2024

Our Master's student Matheus Silveira Mendes has been awarded the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) prize of 1,000 euros for outstanding achievements by international students in 2024 for his academic achievements and social commitment at the university.

Mendes, who has been studying the English-language Master's in Social Sciences at our Institute of Social Sciences since October 2023, is described by lecturers as an exceptional student who opens up new perspectives and is characterized by versatility, competence and reliability.

In his acceptance speech, he emphasized the hospitality of the university and the importance of the international aspect of his studies. Mendes, who speaks several languages, plans to do a doctorate and work in academia after graduation.
In addition to his specialization in sociological theories, Mendes has also acquired extensive skills in quantitative social research and supports other students as a tutor in the methods workshop. He is also a volunteer member of the Examination and Admissions Board and the Student Council.

We would like to congratulate Matheus Silveira Mendes on this well-deserved award and thank him for his commitment to the Institute!
