Master Ecumenical Studies and Religions
Profile
One would probably notice it faster being abroad or in a cultural foreign environment; Religions and religious reality perspectives are playing an explicit, at least implicit role in a social and cultural context. In past and present they often characterize and shape ways of peoples thinking, patterns of reactions and systems of values, without being aware of them. Knowledge about inner-Christian ecumenical pluralism and non-Christian diversity of religions is becoming more and more important in a world, where different experience realms are suddenly found close together. Here Ecumenical Studies and Religions (M.A.) impart special skills in perception and dialogue. Through co-operation with regional and international participating universities, graduates are enabled to develop a unique sensibility for the complexity and liveliness of Christian and non-Christian religious perspectives.
The course of study combines the field of Protestant Theology (Oldenburg) with the Catholic Theology (Vechta), Ecumenical Studies (Oldenburg), Science of Religion (Bremen) as well as the study of Judaism (Potsdam) and also integrates gender –oriented theological research. (Oldenburg).
