Adnan Qayyum, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Education Innovation at the graduate program in the Centre for Distance Education at Athabasca University.  He was previously a faculty member at the Pennsylvania State University, a director of the Distance Education unit at the University of Manitoba, and a researcher and instructional designer of distance education and technology at the University of British Columbia.  He has consulted on educational technologies, online education, and learning systems for international development agencies like the World Bank and Commonwealth of Learning, governments, educational institutions, businesses, unions, community groups, and accreditation agencies.  He is the co-editor, with Olaf Zawacki-Richter, of Open and Distance Education in Australia, Europe, and the Americas: National Perspectives in a Digital Age, and the forthcoming Open and Distance Education in Asia, Africa and the Middle East: National Perspectives in a Digital Age.
