The region between the Ems and Elbe rivers is of central importance for the energy transition. The recently launched Powerhouse Nord regional alliance seeks to drive the transformation forward in the north of the country. The C3L - Center for Lifelong Learning has now joined the initiative as a supporter.

One focus of the C3L is further training in renewable energies. Two successful programs are already being offered: "Hydrogen for specialists and managers" and "Wind energy technology and management". Other programmes are currently being developed, including one on approval practices for energy transition projects.

The initial presenation of Powerhouse Nord took place in February in the lecture hall of the Oldenburg University Library. The alliance is supported by individuals and organizations from business, science and administration. At the launch, Tanja-Vera Asmussen, Deputy Chairwoman of the LzO, Prof. Dr. Ralph Bruder, President of the University of Oldenburg and Stefan Dohler, CEO of EWE AG, among others, called for the strengths of the north to be further developed. According to their assessment, thereis plenty of renewable electricity between the Ems and Elbe rivers, the most important production plants and landing points for green hydrogen in Germany, storage facilities and pipelines required for the future energy system, as well as research facilities and innovative companies. This makes the north the key region for a successful energy transition.
