Due to the Covid-19 situation, the eleventh edition of the Career Day, the job and internship fair of the University of Oldenburg, was held online this year. So, on 12 May, the Career Day ONLINE! took place in digital format for the first time, featuring a number of special live elements.
Visitors were treated to a highly varied programme.
More than 35 well-known exhibitors presented themselves at their digital booths. Using widgets, visitors were able to click on company films/image films, job advertisements and information brochures and contact company representatives via live or video chats. Through a pre-organized matching process, students also had the opportunity to secure an exclusive appointment with their company of choice on the day of the fair – a mutually beneficial networking opportunity.
In addition to the exhibiting businesses, many university and non-university service institutions were present and were available to answer visitors' questions.
As always, there was an attractive supporting programme as well. The event kicked off with an exciting keynote address by entrepreneur and TEDx speaker Rona van der Zander, which offered insights into challenges, trends and future capabilities of the changed digitalized world of work. Her talk inspired the participants and stimulated intensive discussions. This was followed by well-attended practical and impulse presentations from a wide range of experts on topics such as job and entry opportunities in various sectors and on tips and strategies for applying for jobs. In addition, there were digital job walls and application portfolio checks, which were fully booked.
With almost 300 registered users, the Career Day ONLINE! was a complete success.
The exhibition booths will be available to view online for a further five days after 12 May, giving all interested parties another opportunity to access relevant information from the exhibitors.
