Review
The 16th Career Day, the Internship and Job Fair of the University of Oldenburg

This year’s internship and job fair Career Day at the University of Oldenburg recorded a high number of visitors and once again confirmed its importance as a central platform for exchange between students and employers. Shortly after the opening by the President of the University of Oldenburg Prof. Dr. Ralph Bruder and the Mayor of the city of Oldenburg Christine Wolff, students filled the foyer of the lecture hall centre and took the opportunity to get in touch with companies, most of them from the region. Visitors gathered information about entry opportunities, application processes and individual development prospects.

The extensive supporting programme was also widely used. Appointments for application checks and professional application photo sessions were already fully booked in advance of the fair. The panel discussions on topics such as salary negotiations and alumni experience reports also attracted many interested attendees.

The fair impressively demonstrated the strong need for personal exchange between students and employers – and how important such formats continue to be for career orientation.
