Once you have acquired a taste for a few projects, you direct your study focus to the desired unit and thus lay the perfect foundation for the possible subsequent doctorate. Of course, this does not mean that your studies are thus exclusively limited to your chosen field, as the curriculum naturally also provides for the basic study of the other fields. However, it does allow for early orientation and planning of larger (doctoral) projects.
