Information Systems experts launch new Erasmus Mundus project. "Enhancing University Research and Education in Areas Useful for Sustainable Development - Eureka SD" is the name of the new Erasmus Mundus project, which the Department of Information Systems is coordinating together with the Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research (COAST). The project will run for four years and is funded by the EU with around 4.3 million euros. The aim is to promote learning and research on the topic of "sustainable development" in an exchange between Latin America and Europe. To this end, the project organisers are providing 315 scholarships for study, training, teaching and research stays at Latin American and European universities. The stays should have a strong connection to the topic of "sustainable development". "The special thing about the project is that the issues are transdisciplinary and we are addressing various scientific disciplines," emphasises business informatics specialist Prof. Dr Jorge Marx Gómez, who is leading the project. "Eureka SD is an important building block for the further internationalisation of the university - with very specific offers for members of the university," adds Dr Thomas Klenke from COAST. The project partners from nine Latin American and seven European countries met for a kick-off meeting at the end of September. The application procedure will start this year. Students and employees of the University of Oldenburg are cordially invited to apply for a scholarship via the project website .
