The school laboratory physiXS of the Physics Didactics and Science Communication working group has been awarded first place in the Diversity Prize category by the LernortLabor association for its phymobil_OL format. The prize, sponsored by the BMBF, is endowed with 5,000 euros. LernortLabor e. V. is the organisation representing the interests of German-speaking school laboratories with around 400 member institutions.
phymobil_OL supports educationally disadvantaged young people in building up STEM-related knowledge and physical problem-solving skills as well as developing a positive physics self-concept. The prize money will be used by phymobil_OL to continue to visit youth centres, girls' homes and facilities for young adults in Oldenburg and the region with physics programmes.
The next annual conference of LernortLabor e. V. LeLa2025 will take place in Oldenburg in March 2025. It will be jointly organised by the Oldenburg teaching and learning laboratories OLELA, to which physiXS also belongs, the Didactic Centre and LernortLabor e. V.
