We are the elected members of the Staff Council who represent the interests of most employees of the University of Oldenburg. Exceptions concern junior professorships, lecturers on specific contracts etc. (listed in the regulations of §105 NPersVG).

The legal grounds of our work are specified by the law governing staff representation of Lower Saxony (NPersVG). Some of our duties according to this law are the following:

• pay attention to whether the legal regulations like laws, collective agreements, administrative regulations and the like that are in favor of employees are applied and all related action is carried out in accordance to those
• take up and deal with suggestions and complaints of employees that are considered reasonable so that their negotiation with the employer is initiated, persued and its results are reported to the employees thereafter
• take action to ensure that agreements like the ones on the equal opportunities for male, female and diverse members are applied 

For these instances we have the right to participate in decision-making, get involved with related topics, inform and consult employees.

In addition, we are there to assist in case of any questions, offer support with issues that may occur and happily invest time in personal consultations. If needed, please take a look at the counseling plan of the Staff Council and arrange an appointment for an initial consultation.

Note that the weekly meetings of the Staff Council take place on Tuesdays and we are therefore unavailable until 2pm. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.
