Measures to ensure equal opportunities

Decisive steps in an academic career and starting a family are often taken at the same stage in life. Many find it difficult to equally meet the demands of having a career and family without getting overwhelmed. A disability or chronic illness can also make it difficult to plan and develop a career.

The University of Oldenburg wishes to promote a work-life balance that enables academic researchers to bear responsibility for their family while at the same time pursuing academic excellence. It therefore offers junior professors, junior research group leaders, tenure track professors and postdocs facilities to support them when family circumstances are particularly taxing.

At the same time, the university aims to support doctoral and postdoctoral researchers with a disability or chronic illness by providing individual coaching to help them overcome difficult phases in their career development.

  1. Individual coaching
  2. Funds for hiring temporary assistants
