Prof. Dr Michael Wark

Prof. Dr Michael Wark is a lecturer in Technical Chemistry, head of the ‘Photocatalysis and Sustainable Use of Raw Materials’ research group, and has been Dean of School V - School of Mathematics and Science since 2019. The chemist studied and obtained his PhD at the University of Bremen; research stays took him to Mulhouse in France and to the University of Notre Dame (USA). In 2002, he moved to the Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry at the University of Hanover, where he completed his habilitation in 2004 and taught and conducted research until 2010, most recently as an adjunct professor. He served on the University Senate of Leibniz University for four years. This was followed by a professorship at the University of Bochum – and, in 2013, a professorship at the University of Oldenburg. His research focuses on materials and chemical processes for renewable energy and resource conservation. Wark is a member of the university’s scientific centre for sustainability research, TRUST@UOL, and sits on its centre council.
