Prof. Dr Gun-Britt Kohler is a university lecturer in Slavic literary studies. She studied Slavic studies, Romance studies and Russian literary studies in Würzburg and Paris. In 2001, she was awarded her doctorate in Würzburg and joined the University of Oldenburg as a research fellow, where she then conducted research and taught, initially as a junior lecturer, from 2007 to 2013. Kohler has served as Director of the Institute of Slavic Studies on several occasions since 2015 and served as Dean of School III - School of Linguistics and Cultural Studies from 2021 to 2023. Prior to this, she had already served as Dean of Studies for the School from 2011 to 2015 and, from 2023, took on the acting leadership of the Institute of Material Culture for two years. She has also been a member of the University Senate since 2023. Kohler is the deputy Chair of the Association of German Slavists and her research focuses in particular on ‘smaller’ Slavic literatures and literary systems.
