Prof. Dr Andrea Strübind

Prof. Dr Andrea Strübind teaches and researches church history and historical theology at the Institute of Protestant Theology and Religious Education. She studied Protestant theology, history and Jewish studies in Berlin and Jerusalem, and received her PhD from the Kirchliche Hochschule Berlin in 1990. She went on to earn her habilitation at Heidelberg University in 1999, then taught and researched in Heidelberg and Lüneburg before accepting a professorship at the University of Oldenburg in 2006. Strübind was Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences from 2013 to 2017 and has been Director of the Institute of Theology and Religious Education since 2017. She is an internal member of the University Council, a central advisory and supervisory body at the university, and is also Chair of the Intercultural Jewish Studies programme. Her research interests include contemporary church history, religious non-conformism and the Christian roots of the civil rights movement centred around Martin Luther King.
