Digital teaching materials for the energy transition and business administration

Energy informatics, data management for energy research and business administration - free teaching and learning materials have been created for these three subject areas at C3L in collaboration with partners.

Energy informatics, data management for energy research and business administration - free teaching and learning materials have been created for these three subject areas at C3L in collaboration with partners. The so-called Open Educational Resources (OER) alternate between texts, podcasts and interactive elements. They are accessible via the Twillo portal in Lower Saxony. This makes practical knowledge available free of charge to all interested parties.

With the materials on energy informatics, Prof. Dr. Astrid Nieße from the Department of Computer Science imparts basic knowledge on energy systems, players relevant to the energy industry and current research topics such as the application of artificial intelligence. At universities, the materials can be used in courses such as computer science, energy technology, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and industrial engineering. At the interfaces between these subject areas and energy informatics, there is a growing demand for specialists who can, for example, develop business models for electromobility, software for decentralized energy systems or forecasting methods for energy generation and consumption.

The almost 200 individual teaching and learning materials for economics and business studies are based on a diverse didactic mix. This includes graphics and texts, exemplary spreadsheets and quiz elements. They cover human resources management, organization, financing and investment. These topics are part of almost every business or economics course. The collection of materials can therefore be used throughout Germany. It is suitable for both teaching and self-learning. The Jade University of Applied Sciences and the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Oldenburg were involved in the project.

The English-language course on research data management teaches how data can be used in the long term beyond the boundaries of research projects and scientific institutes. They should be findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable. This means that data sets can be used repeatedly in different contexts and do not have to be laboriously recreated. The materials are aimed in particular at young researchers working on networked energy systems, storage technologies or solar and wind energy, for example.

The project on research data management was supported by the Energy Research Center of Lower Saxony (EFZN) with around 25,000 euros. The Lower Saxony Ministry of Science (MWK) funded the two projects on energy informatics and business administration with around 137,000 euros.
