The Division for Organizational Health Services Research teaches in the field of medical sociology within the model curriculum in human medicine at the European Medical School (EMS). Medical sociology belongs - like for example anatomy, physiology, biology and medical psychology, too - to the basic subjects within the medical studies. The task of medical sociology is to produce and disseminate knowledge on two problem areas: (1) to analyze the societal (social) impact on health and disease and (2) to sociologically analyze the structure and function of health services.
Also, the division contributes to the longitudinal research track (LFC) within the model curriculum of human medicine. We are offering lectures and workshops on qualitative research methods with a focus on interviews and on quantitative research methods with a focus on surveys.
