The wonderful world of electrons is the focus of a public Christmas lecture on Wednesday, 13 December at 4.00 pm at the University of Oldenburg. Physicist Prof Dr Christoph Lienau will give a generally understandable introduction to attosecond physics, the field of research of this year's Nobel Prize winners in physics Pierre Agostini and Ferencz Krausz and Nobel Prize winner Anne L'Huillier. Lienau will explain how extremely short light pulses make it possible to capture the movement of electrons in atoms, molecules and solids as if in a film. The event will take place in the large lecture theatre on the Wechloy campus (Carl-von-Ossietzky-Straße 11, room W03-1-161). Interested parties are cordially invited, admission is free.
The lecture marks the start of the fifth Iraqi-German Winter School on Nanophotonics with 40 participants, which is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service.
