Jutta Kunz-Drolshagen has been following in the footsteps of Albert Einstein at the Institute of Physics for more than 30 years. She is passionate about relativistic astrophysics. The focus of her research was on the properties of black holes and wormholes in generalised theories of gravity.
Together with her research group, she succeeded in contributing internationally recognised results. She reached an important highlight in 2012 when she was awarded the DFG Research Training Group "Models of Gravity" together with her colleague Claus Lämmerzahl. In this way, she shaped Oldenburg into an important centre of gravitational physics. She was committed to promoting young scientists, especially women.
Jutta Kunz-Drolshagen is not only an exceptional personality in her field, but also a wise counsellor. Her advice and insights, whether on scientific or personal topics, often helped others to make decisions and overcome obstacles.
In Jutta Kunz-Drolshagen, Oldenburg physics has lost - at least formally - an enthusiastic and inspiring researcher. It makes us colleagues somewhat wistful that we at the Institute will not be able to continue one of the most exciting topics in the natural sciences at the top international level of Jutta Kunz-Drolshagen. level of Jutta Kunz-Drolshagen. We are therefore not only saying goodbye to a dear and highly valued colleague, but also very much hope that she will continue to share her passion for relativistic astrophysics with us beyond her retirement.
Jutta Kunz-Drolshagen was thanked for her many years of service at the IfP Christmas party and given a festive farewell by the IfP staff.
