Svend-Age Biehs from the "Condensed Matter Theory" research group has been honoured as Reviewer of the Year 2023 by the nature physics journal Quantum Information.

After his dissertation at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, he spent two years as a postdoc at the Institut d'Optique in Palaiseau, France, before returning to Oldenburg.

His research interests include various facets of nanoscale thermal radiation, near-field infrared imaging, topological and non-reciprocal plasmonic systems as well as energy, heat transfer and entanglement in quantum systems. His contributions in the field of nanoscale thermal radiation were honoured with the Gustav Hertz Prize of the German Physical Society in 2019.
