DAAD certificate FAQ
DAAD Language Certificate Frequently Asked Questions
Is the DAAD certificate equivalent to the TOEFL?
No. The DAAD certificate is used for certain purposes (DAAD scholarships), and the TOEFL for other purposes. Always find out exactly which language certificate you need.
Is the DAAD certificate equivalent to B2/C1/B1 etc.?
No. The DAAD certificate does certify a certain level, but it only does so for DAAD purposes. If you need a different certificate (B2 certificate), then you have to take the corresponding exam.
What does the exam for the DAAD certificate look like?
It is a language test in which all four skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening) are tested and assessed.
How can I prepare for the exam?
A language course at the Language Centre is always a good preparation for all language exams, but it is not absolutely necessary. It depends on how good your English is, how good you need to be for your scholarship place and what you think you can do. It is always a good idea to review your grammar, watch videos and films in English, read English newspapers and watch the news.
5. does the exam cost anything?
Yes, the exam costs 20,00 Euro.
6. how long does the exam take?
The written part takes about 60 minutes. The oral part takes about 15 minutes. However, it depends on how many examinees are registered for one day - there may be waiting times for the oral examination. If you are pressed for time, please contact us!
When will I get my results?
Normally you will get your test results a few days after the exam. If you are pressed for time, talk to us. Register early for a test date so that you don't have to send off your scholarship application at the last minute.
