Languages

The Language Centre currently offers courses in 17 different languages. In cooperation with Faculties II and VI, specialised language courses are also offered. All language courses are in compliance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, and performance is documented in a portfolio during the semester.

Please refer to StudIP for details of course times and locations, where you will also find the module descriptions with information on the courses and course books. If you have any questions, send us an email.

N.B. At the Language Centre of the University of Oldenburg, German is the contrastive teaching language. If your knowledge of German is below level B2, you will probably have difficulty with the language courses, as most of the teaching material is written for the German language market. If you wish to improve your knowledge of German, please apply to the Language Centre's coordinators of German as a foreign language.

Please note also: If you speak on of the languages on offer as a mother tongue, you cannot participate in the course. The language courses are geared towards learners, not insiders.
