How to get your scientific paper published

Prof. Jonathan Bowen

Abstract:

Publishing and promoting academic research has changed significantly over the past decades with the development of the World Wide Web and all the facilities that it has to offer. Research output is still disseminated largely through papers but distribution is now mainly online rather than on paper. In addition to tradition journals and publishers, publications are now accessible through online facilities such as Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and Academia.edu. These now have large corpuses of freely available information on publications, together with author and citation details.

Identification of academic authors online is increasingly important too, using facilities such as ORCID. Some practical guidance on how to consider submission of papers for publication in conferences and journals together with what is worthwhile with respect to presenting publication information online will be given.

Note: The talk will be aimed at young researchers, especially those considering an academic career.
