Personal data of former university members is collected at the end of their affiliation with the university, in particular after de-registration, and stored until further notice or until deletion at the request of the data subject.
Personal data of student participants in the mentoring programme is collected when they apply for the programme and stored until further notice or until deletion at the request of the data subject. Student members of the university become former members of the university upon de-registration.

Purpose for which personal data is processed and scope of processing
The purpose of data collection within the alumni programme is to maintain contact with former members, in particular graduates, of Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg.
The purpose of data collection within the framework of the alumni platform is to enable the use of the platform's services and functions, which work with data provided by alumni, in order to facilitate contact between former and current members of Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg.
The purpose of data collection within the framework of the mentoring programme is to match current and former members of the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg according to specific criteria in order to establish mentoring relationships.
Legal basis for processing
The collection and processing of personal data within the framework of the alumni programme of Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg is based on Art. 6 (1) (e) GDPR in conjunction with § 3 NDSG and § 17 NHG.
The collection and processing of personal data within the framework of the mentoring programme is carried out in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR (consent).
Provision of data
The provision of personal data is necessary for the conclusion of a contract.
Consequences of not providing data
Without the provision of data, admission to the active alumni network or the mentoring programme of the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg alumni programme is not possible.
Disclosure and foreign connection
Personal data is not passed on to third parties. However, within the framework of the contract processing relationship with the service provider Graduway (operation of the alumni platform), Graduway and its subcontractors have access to personal data within the scope of the respective services provided. The University has regulated and agreed this and the obligation of service providers and subcontractors to comply with the provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in a so-called data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR) with Graduway. This applies in particular to compliance with the provisions of Art. 44 ff. GDPR.
Graduway's subcontractors include Amazon Web Services (based in Germany), Google Cloud Platform (Belgium), Sendgrid, Inc. (United States) and companies from the Graduway Group (United Kingdom, United States, Israel).
