Here you have the opportunity to register for our alumni network so that we can keep in touch with you.
The collection and use of personal data of alumni and alumnae serves only the purpose of maintaining contact with former university members.
Membership in the alumni network of Carl von Ossietzky University is free of charge.
Lifetime e-mail address
When registering for our network, graduates of the University of Oldenburg have the opportunity to create a new e-mail address using the vorname.nachname@alum.uol.de model. This @alum.uol.de address is retained for life, provided it is used at least once every six months.
The student e-mail address (vorname.nachname@uol.de) is deactivated the moment the alumni address is set up. Irrespective of this, every student e-mail address is automatically deactivated 12 months after exmatriculation.
Frequently asked questions
How can I keep my email address after graduation?
If you have registered as an alumna or alumnus of the University of Oldenburg and are a graduate of the University of Oldenburg, you have the option of changing your student email address to an alumni email address according to the model vorname.nachname@alum.uol.de. You will then still have access to your mailbox. Emails sent to your student email address will not be forwarded to the new address.
The student email address (vorname.nachname@uol.de) will remain active until De-registration and will be deactivated when the alumni address is set up. In general, the student address will be deactivated 12 months after De-registration.
Will my email account never be deactivated?
Alumni email accounts remain active as long as they are used at least once every six months. If six months pass without active use of the account, the account holder will receive a notification that deactivation is imminent. You can then stop the deactivation yourself by actively using your account again and logging in. If this is not the case, the email account can be deleted.
A new email address can be requested again at any time, but all previous emails will be lost. Apart from this condition, alumni email accounts are not deleted. They are therefore retained for life.
Why can I no longer log in to Stud.IP?
Stud.IP is a campus and learning management system. At Carl von Ossietzky University, it has been used for many years by students and teaching staff to organise their studies and teaching. It is not and was never intended to be a platform for alumni of our university to exchange information.
Since our alumni have such a platform at their disposal with OldenburgConnect, access to Stud.IP managed as alumni accounts is only valid for one year after De-registration.
However, alumni can continue to access the university WLAN (eduroam) with their access data if they decide to convert their student email into an alumni email after their De-registration.
