The collection is housed in the Multimedia Centre (Mediathek) on the mezzanine between the 3rd and 4th floor of the Central Library.

Microfiches and microfilms
The Multimedia Centre (Mediathek) features a collection of approx. 510,000 microfilms and microfiches with various contents.
1. Microfilms
The collection comprises newspapers and journals from the 19th and 20th centuries. You can find an inventory of the contents here:
The University Library also holds a collection of passenger lists for emigrant ships from the 19th century on approx, 1,500 rolls of microfilm. (Holdings of the National Archives, Washington D.C.).
2. Microfiche archive
- Taschengoedecke
Approx. 14,500 microfiches of German literature listed in the "Taschengoedecke" (Library of German Literature).
- Bibliothek Stein
The "Bibliothek Stein" contains primary literature on the social history of the 19th and 20th centuries. The collection comprises approx. 3,200 microfiches.
- German journals
The archive comprises approx. 23,000 microfiches of German journals from the 18th and 19th centuries.
- Marburger Index
The collection comprises approx. 16,000 microfiches featuring images of architectural and cultural monuments in Germany as well as works of art in German collections.
- Dissertations
The collection comprises approx. 12,500 dissertations from universities in Germany and abroad.
Borrowing terms
The microforms can be viewed in the Multimedia Centre where it is possible to make prints and scans. The collections are listed in the Oldenburg University Library catalogue.
