In order to be able to measure and manage the university's sustainability and climate protection activities in a targeted manner, appropriate controlling is necessary. The greenhouse gas balance is central to monitoring the success of the measures. In addition, the university has regularly published a sustainability report since 2007.

Greenhouse gas balance

The first comprehensive greenhouse gas balance for the University of Oldenburg was published in spring 2022. It presented the values for 2019 and 2020. This assessment is repeated every two years. The last GHG balance for the balance year 2022 was published in September 2023. Scope 1-3 emissions are calculated using the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol for short).

Sustainability report

The University of Oldenburg published a sustainability profile back in 2007. The first comprehensive sustainability report was then published in December 2013. The current sustainability report was prepared in 2020/21. It provides information on the ecological, economic and social performance of the university and focuses on the university-specific implementation at the University of Oldenburg.
