With the four-semester Master of Education (Special Needs Education), you will continue your education to become a teacher - building on the dual-subject bachelor's degree programme. In the school-type based Master of Education programme, you will acquire extensive knowledge and experience in both educational science and school practice. You will broaden your curricular knowledge in the teaching subjects chosen.
Orientation and Goals
This Master's degree programme prepares you for a future professional career as a special education teacher with a focus on Textile Design. It builds on a dual-subject Bachelor's degree with the main subject Special Education, and a minor subject in Material Culture: Textiles (or similar subjects), and corresponding specialisation modules.
It aims at deepening both didactic and practical competencies related to textiles, as well as cultural studies expertise —particularly with regard to ableism and inclusion.
The programme addresses fundamental and advanced cultural studies concepts, qualitative empirical methods, and artistic skills in the field of textiles, clothing, and fashion.
It also deals with issues of teaching methodology and curriculum, as well as current topics such as inclusion, gender, or migration.
Since this is a Master of Education programme, the focus is on learning and applying current research methods which are directly relevant to schools, deepening textile and media practice skills as well as teaching-oriented competencies: During the subject-specific diagnostic internship, you will become familiar with school culture and prepare your own teaching units.
